Notes from Dr. Satterwhite 10/10/24

Cayuga ISD Faculty and Staff,

We all seem to excited to see the arrival of the fall break.  Here are a few thoughts:

·       Take time to recharge your batteries.  The weather forecast looks promising – cool in the mornings and pleasant throughout the day.

·       Before you leave, please set your classroom thermostats up so as to conserve energy.

·       As you prepare for the break, this Friday is a good day to do some classroom organization.  Might be a good time to purge any unnecessary clutter.

·       Since the heightened awareness of COVID has somewhat dissipated, we have naturally gotten more lax about disinfecting our areas.  I would like for all teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff to make an attempt tomorrow to wipe down, and sanitize your rooms prior to leaving.  We will soon transition into the annual flu season.  Any cleaning help that you can provide is greatly appreciated.  Let the principals know if you need wipes, cleaning spray, etc.

·       It is exciting to see the new furniture roll in to the high school.  Please be patient as that process unfolds.  Mr. Thompson is to be commended for his vision, planning, and execution of this furniture purchase and delivery.  Mr. Williams has also worked hard to line out which items will be transitioned to the middle school.  The company should be assembling the new furniture next week.  Please stay patient as there will be some inevitable hiccups.  It is nice to see our kids blessed with new stuff.  Help to oversee that they appreciate it by keeping it nice.

·       We will be installing some new upgraded LED lighting in the elementary gym during the break.

·       If you get a chance come out and support our extracurricular programs over the break.  The volleyball team plays at Frankston on Saturday, at home on Tuesday versus Kerens and at home versus Cross Roads on Friday.  Football plays at home against Carlisle tonight and travels to Mildred next week.  The band competes at the Mineola Marching Contest on Monday 14th at 1:30pm and 6:15pm.  The FFA has a baked potato fundraiser on Sunday 13th at the ACYLA Pavilion.

Enjoy the time off.  Go Wildcats!
